Prologue -
We weren’t born in the saddle, but we were born again in the saddle.
We know what it’s like to get into that saddle for the first time - or the first time in a LONG time. To find yourself in your 30’s, or later, finally pursuing something your friends may have started years ago.
We know what it’s like to look into the horse world from the outside, surrounded by horses that cost more than a family car and people who have been riding, training, competing, and otherwise immersed in horses for so long and so deeply that they sometimes cannot fathom the uncertain footsteps of someone starting from scratch.
And this is often where dreamers talk themselves out of the dream.
Imposter syndrome becomes so real that the passion gets relegated back to a melancholy longing — something you glimpse through the car window as you pass farms and pastures, wondering what it might have been like if you had only started sooner.
That’s not what we want for you.
Do you dream of horses?
If so, we have great news for you. You don’t have to be a mega-conglomerate CEO riding Mercedes-priced horses with a groom in a fancy facility to belong here.
You don’t have to know the “who’s who” — or even the “what’s what” — of the ever-expansive horse world.
You don’t even have to possess the resolve to stand within three feet of a horse for the very first time.
We know what all of that is like.
And we will meet you right where you are — with empathy, compassion, patience, and a learning path that honors both where you are and where you want to go.
We’re still learning, too. And we’ll never stop.

The Horse is the Beginning -
At Storybook, we believe the best horse experiences begin long before the saddle. Everything begins on the ground — learning how horses communicate, how they experience the world, and how our choices affect them. Starting from the ground up, we learn to groom, lead, tack, care for, observe, and simply be with horses.
We make room for play. For curiosity. For the little moments that make you realize you’re not just learning to ride a horse — you’re getting to know one.
And we believe people matter, too. Because a great barn isn’t just a place where horses live and lessons happen. It’s a place where people find their people.
At Storybook, we’re building a horse community around understanding, care, joy, and connection.
More than a Lesson Barn -
Storybook focuses on total horse care — from how to tackle the basics you’ll draw from throughout a horse’s life, all the way through managing changes in behavior, diet, veterinary and ferrier care, as a horse moves through all the stages of their life.
We meet our people where they’re at as their horse journey progresses, too — whether preparing to train at a specialized lesson barn, embark on a trail ride, lease a horse for sport, or bring home their very first forever companion — we aim to equip our equestrians with everything they need to make their best decisions and manage the responsibilities that come with that, every step of the way.
Our mission is to establish deep roots within a community that can always call upon each other, enjoy each other’s company, cheer for one another, and follow along one another’s journey, wherever that may take us. From Icelandic trail rides to the NFR Championships, the sweetheart stable of a ‘first home farm’ purchase, to the folks who stay right here in our barn for every book club and beach trail B&B, we are building a space where, no matter what stage of your journey you might find yourself, you can always call on the Storybook community to motivate you further towards your dreams.
We Don’t Just Teach People How to Ride Horses. We Teach People How to Have Horses.
Horse games. Barn games. Grooming parties. Picnics. Book club. Community nights. Equine nonsense! Laughing together until someone finally points out that it’s probably time to go home.
